P A M P O R O V O
Pamporovo is a modern ski resort in the heart of the Rodope Mountains, home of the mythical singer Orpheus. It is the southernmost skiing resort in Europe, and the sunniest Bulgarian winter resort with wonderful snow throughout the whole season. Pamporovo is situated at 1650 m above the sea level, at the foot of Snejanka Peak (1926 m), some 260 km away from Bulgaria’s capital Sofia.
The resort is known for its soft winter (about 120 sunny days during the skiing period). The Aegean Sea has a significant influence on the climate, and the skiing season strats from mid-December and last to mid-April. All ski runs are safeguarded and in excellent condition. They are located between 1926 and 1450 m above the sea level on the northern, eastern and western slopes of Snejanka Peak. The average air temperature is –3° C, and the gentle profile of the mountain with its rounded slopes makes Pamporovo suitable for both beginners and expert skiers.
